It has been about 3 years now since I inherited my Father's slide and negative collection. I have always expected to start scanning them some day in hopes to find some special treasured memories of my parents, but the first slide canister I opened gave me much more than expected. I found myself peering through my Father's eyes at these wonderful moments at Radio City Music Hall. It was 1971 and my father was a Navy Sailor stationed outside of New York, and I assume these are pictures of the Rockettes. These photos are in no way technically correct in composition, speed, or lighting, but I love the deep colors, I love the capture of movement caught in ghostly blurs, I love the grain and noise of the images, and I love how sometimes people are swallowed up by shadow.

My father was not a trained photographer, but he always had a camera and he loved to document the world around him, and I am glad he did. Yes, I know I may be biased because Mark Frenette was my Father, but there is something magical and nostalgic about these images. I am only 10 slides in of boxes upon boxes of slides and I already see a story unfolding in images. I can not wait to discover the world he saw, and I hope to keep on sharing as I have time to piece these images together into a shareable story.
